Since December of last year I’ve been wanting to write a blog about the growth the band has experienced over the past few months.
But I haven’t had a chance to fully sit down and put all the numbers together, so instead, I decided to share with you some significant milestones we have approached recently.
To start, we just got invited to play on the main stage for Sangha Fest, at Tico Time, this coming June 7th. Playing festivals was always a super clear goal of mine, and although we played two small festivals last year, this would be our first big stage appearance. Needless to say, we are beyond excited!
On top of that, we also just landed a huge win, getting a whole year worth of free advertising through the Boulder Community Events newsletter. These emails go out twice a week, and will increase our reach and audience significantly.
Our internal reach has also been growing, with our newsletter currently holding 300+ active subscribers, and our Instagram at the threshold of breaking 500 followers, which is a lot considering we had less than 200 by the end of 2023.
At the same time, our list of upcoming events is longer than ever, with our calendar showing 15 events, and a lot more soon to be added, I literary ran out of space on the page, and will need to figure out a new arrangement to lay down all the upcoming dates.
The band has also been growing, which means rehearsals have multiplied. We went from meeting once a week to sometimes two or three times, in order to check in with all the new musicians, and keep bringing people on board. It’s been quite wild at times, with much to keep track of regarding rehearsals, upcoming shows, and new booking opportunities.
We also started hosting donation-based events at home, in an effort to rise funds to buy a new system (the one we currently have is well loved, but it’s large and heavy, and tricky to pack with both kids in the car)… Our first event was a couple of weeks ago, and quite a success, all things considered. This Saturday we are having another one at home, here are the details.
Finally, we’ve been doing some semi-regular appearances at Chris’ Kirtan Community events, with the next one coming up this Thursday. This will be our third time leading kirtan at Chris’, and we are coming back again in a few days for the Maha Shivaratri celebration.
There is so much I could share, but better get some sleep.
