We are eight days away from our recording session with Justin Buo, here in Boulder Colorado. As Friday 15th approaches, we are pushing full steam to get everything in alignment and fill in the missing pieces. We are also finding more clarity on our vision, excitement is growing. the project is coming together. Tomorrow we’ll be meeting with Leo Castrence, to fine-tune this message and get some expert advice on how to go about sharing our music.
Introduction to Show Your Love
The leading single and final song from the “Show Your Love” EP were written in the California Redwoods, over five years ago. These were the very first songs composed by Bruno Treves. Since then, Bruno (a.k.a the person writing this blog) has written over 20 songs and mapped the discography for the next couple of years.
As we get closer to the release dates for “Show Your Love” (estimated between January 15th and March 21st), we find it is time to make some connections with our community and musical tribe. Searching for the best way to communicate all that needs to be said, we chose to write this blog and share our vision with you. The following picture comes straight from our hearts, including musicians who have inspired this project by sharing their love for music and community.
Show Your Love Discography
Track #1: Show Your Love
(Featuring Tubby Love, Amber Lily, and Richard Vagner)
– A few months ago I met Tubby Love at a philanthropic event and told him I want him to be part of this release. He said that was a “bold move”, and raised his eyebrows enough times to help me feel hope and excitement about him joining this project. We envision him playing lead guitar, joining in some backup vocals, and maybe adding a verse of his own if he feels compelled to it. I also see Amber Lily joining in with her vocals and lyricism. Richard Vagner would be the cherry on top. I can’t see this track without a violin and he is my #1 choice for it. Feeling excited about the possibility of these thoughts manifesting into form. This would be the best way to start this record.
Track #2: Getting Closer
(Featuring Tierro Lee and Bridget Law from the Tierro Band)
– A couple of weekends ago I went to Tierro Band’s album release party and danced my butt off. Tierro is one of my favorite guitarists to listen to live, and the tracks on the band’s new album are excellent. For this track, we imagine Tierro’s electric guitar going at it with Bridget’s violin. The song is all about pushing and pulling, calling in for elevating tension and sweet grace. There might be some room here for percussion or perhaps a base. I am open to suggestions from experienced ears. 🙂
Track #3: Together Apart
(Featuring Travor Hall, Satsang and/or Wookiefoot)
– Together Apart was inspired by my dear friend Carly. She and I met during Trevor Hall’s first concert at The Mishawaka, and some of our favorite bands include Satsang and Wookiefoot. During our time together we listened to Trevor, Drew, Mark and company both live and through CDs I’ve been stacking over the years. It makes sense to have any and all of them join us in sharing this epic story of infinite love.
Track #4: Pray for Devotion
(Featuring Paul Izak)
– The final song on the record is meant to be sung as a prayer and in company with our tribe. We would love to have everyone mentioned above join in on this track, but if I had to choose only one person, that would be Paul Izak. His vocals, guitar, harmonica and percussion combination take my soul back to Hawaii every time I see him perform. It would be an honor to have his energy all over this song.
We Bet on Our Divinity
We are well aware that we may not get blessed by any of these artists’ contributions. We also know it is equally possible that all of them will jump in with open arms, excited to create a unique production with this beautiful tribe. This is a vision, a draft, an invitation.
Luckily, I am not attached to any of this turning true, I am just dumping my love into it and seeing what happens. I am flexible with my vision and if any of these musicians want to play on a different track or a future release, I will be happy to welcome it. I know they are busy people with much to offer, and I am just getting started. Hopefully, we can find an arrangement that is in harmony with all those involved.
I believe in love, freedom and the pursuit of Awesome. Cross your fingers, find your breath, open up your heart… and let Jah music play. =D
Blessings,
Bruno Treves
